Your skin is the largest organ of your body, and you only get one body! Invest in your skin!

During a facial, your hair is securely fastened with a spa headband and can sometimes crease your hairline. It's not a fashion show come comfortable and ready to relax.

I recommened waiting 8-10 hours after your facial before applying makeup!

Will your skin look red after your facial?

Everyone's skin reacts differently! However, if we are treating acne, then with extractions there could be some redness. Some exfoliating stimulants can also cause temporary redness, this is great for blood circulation - bye bye fine lines and wrinkles! If redness occurs during a treatment, we will follow with a smoothing mask or lympathic drainage to calm down the skin. Typically redness is a sign of good blood flow in the skin and will go down shortly after your facial.

Can you get a facial if you are pregnant?

Absolutely. With your hormones going crazy, your skin probably is as well. As the baby grows I can adjust the head of the bed so that you are not lying flat on your back for an extended period.

What products do you use?

Only the best, of course! Seriously though – I proudly use and recommend Image Skincare, Skin Script, & Glymed Plus!

Chemicals Peels

What do chemical peels do?

Chemical peeling agents resurface the skin by inducing a controlled trauma and thus removing superficial layers of the skin. As a result, chemical peels promote the growth of a new healthy top skin layer and improve skin problems like hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven texture and skin impurities.

What should I expect during treatment?

Procedures vary dependent on the type of chemical peel. Skin is prepped like a normal facial, a double cleanse, followed by degreaser to ensure the treated area is free of any oils left on the skin. The chemical peel is then applied and typically remains on the skin for 3 to 7 minutes. Most patients feel a mild stinging which is temporary and usually subsides after a few minutes. Some peels are designed to self neutralize and may remain on your skin longer.

How long is the recovery after a chemical peel and what type of care is necessary?

Recovery times will vary based on the type and strength of the peel. Immediately after the peel, your skin will feel tight and may be red. Any visible peeling will be light and fluffy and easily controlled with moisturizer. Peeling usually lasts 3-5 days, depending on the actual peel treatment. Use of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is very important, as it will enhance the healing process and results. I do not recommend wearing makeup for the first 3 days post peel! Normal activity may be resumed after the peel, however strenuous exercise and heavy sweating should be avoided for 2-3 days. Sun exposure should be avoided while skin is peeling; exposure of treated skin to a lot of heat should also be avoided as it may induce swelling, redness and for deeper peels blisters under the skin. Peeling skin should be allowed to slough off naturally; picking or peeling of flaking skin is prohibited, as it may lead to scarring. Use of prescription topicals should be avoided for 3-5 days post peel.

Why did I not have any visible peeling after my peel?

The success of the peel should not be judged by the amount of peeling, but by the end results that the peel will produce. The amount of peeling may vary depending on individual skin condition at the time of the peel or the depth of the peel. Regardless of the degree of peeling, the skin is still sloughing off at an accelerated rate, resulting in the improvement of skin tone and texture and an improvement of fine lines and uneven pigmentation.

What products or procedures should I avoid before a chemical peel?

  • One week before the peel avoid waxing, electrolysis, deploritory creams, and laser hair removal.
  • Five days before the peel discontinue using any prescription topicals such as Retin-A, Differin or Tazorac, as well as any products containing retinol, alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA), beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) or benzoyl peroxide.
  • Patients who have had any medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures such as laser treatments, cosmetic fillers, botox, or other surgical procedures should wait until skin sensitivity has completely resolved before receiving a peel.

What are the contraindications to chemical peels?

Chemical peels should be avoided if any of the following conditions are present:

  • Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated
  • Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin

Hydrodermabrasions

What do hydrodermabrasions do?

Hydrodermabrasion is a fancy word for wet/dry diamond tip exfoliation. This advanced treatment is designed to give the deepest exfoliation to the top surfaces of the skin while hydrating and infusing custom blending ingredients, resulting in the ultimate fresh glow! The use of a diamond tip wand, serum infusion & rapid vacuum is ideal for buffing dry/rough texture while deeply nourishing the skin.

What should I expect during treatment?

Hydrodermabrasion can deeply hydrate the skin as it’s gently exfoliating the surface using a diamond tip wand. The infusion of treatment serums applied directly into the upper layer of the epidermis will plump and fill the skin giving the skin a fuller more hydrated look. This can reduce the appearance of fine lines and dull dehydrated skin. The gentle exfoliation will polish the surface of the skin and clear out debris in the follicles leading to better function and excretion of sebum. You also get the added benefit of the lymphatic drainage cycling out old toxins and waste while bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients in blood flow on a cellular level to the skin.

How long is the recovery after a hydrodermabrasion and what type of care is necessary?

No recovery time at all. Your face may feel tight, have light shedding or be slighlty red after the procedure. Your skin will be tight because the new skin is coming forward. Redness is normal and is caused by the suction of the microdermabrasion. Use of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is very important. Normal activity may be resumed after the peel! Avoid wearing makeup for 8-10 hours post micro.

What products or procedures should I avoid before a microdermabrasion?

  • One week before the peel avoid waxing, electrolysis, deploritory creams, and laser hair removal.
  • Five days before the peel discontinue using any prescription topicals such as Retin-A, Differin or Tazorac, as well as any products containing retinol, alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA), beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) or benzoyl peroxide.
  • Patients who have had any medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures such as laser treatments, cosmetic fillers, botox, or other surgical procedures should wait until skin sensitivity has completely resolved before receiving a mircodermabrasion.

What are the counterindications to microdermabrasion?

Mircodermabrasion should be avoided if any of the following conditions are present:

  • Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated
  • Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin

  • Patients with Vitiligo
  • Patients with a history of autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis etc) or any condition that may weaken their immune system

Waxing

How should you prepare for your wax?

Exfoliating and moisturize often the week leading up to your appointment and taking a couple ibuprofen an hour before will surely prepare your skin and help with the pain. Make sure you are drinking lots of water so you come in well hydrated. Caffeine can make skin more sensitive so it’s best to wait to have your coffee until after your wax.

Contraindications!

Retin-A, Accutane, and Renova are medications that increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates so waxing could potentially lift skin resulting in scabs in the coming days. There is nothing scarier to us so please, please let us know if you are using/start using any of these medications. AVOID all waxing while on Accutane and for a minimum of 6 months after coming off the medication or consult your dermatologist about when to proceed.

How long does the hair have to be grown out?

The hair needs to be ¼ inch long or as long as a grain of rice. If you were a regular shaver, this means at least 2 weeks of growth from your last shave of the area.

Can you get waxed while you have your period?

Absolutely. Just be aware that you may be more sensitive during that time of the month.

Can you get waxed if you're pregnant?

Absolutely! You might get to a point in your pregnancy when you just can’t maneuver well enough for your personal grooming. I can help! Some expecting mothers experience heightened pain sensitivity during waxing due to hormonal changes; this is normal. Consult your physician for further questions before your wax.

Should you trim before you wax?

Don’t worry, come hairy! If the hair is to long I will trim it. The longer the hair, the easier it will be for the wax to pick it up resulting in a smoother wax.

What if you have a sunburn?

You should never get waxed if you are sunburned or even if skin is pink. The very top layer of skin could lift which is painful and can result in scabbing.Waxed skin is more photosensitive and is more susceptible to burning.

Should you get a spray tan before or after your wax?

Always get a spray tan after your wax, but wait at least 24 hours for best tan results.

Spray Tanning

What is airbrush spray tanning?

When the body is gently airbrushed with a gentle spray mist, using a UV free sunless tanning solution. The active ingredient in the solution is a colorless sugar, which has been FDA approved for more than 30 years, which naturally darkens the skin. This special formula works by interacting with the natural amino acids in the dead surface cells found in the outermost layer of the skin. This produces a color change, which resembles a UV based tan. As the dead skin cells gradually wear off, the color slowly fades, just like a genuine sun tan. This does not cause damage to the underlying living layers of skin.

How to prepare for your spray tan?

Exfoliate and shave the day before (or at least 8 hours before). This will get rid of any dead skin and provide a more even skin surface for the solution. If you do not have a body exfoliating product at home please come in prior to your spray tan to purchase one! Refrain from using moisturizers, perfumes, lotions, oils or deodorants that may create a barrier between the skin and the spray tanning solution. You may resume using these after your first shower.

Contraindications!

You can NOT get a spray tan if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy, have skin diseases and/or disorders, open cuts and/or wounds. Consult with your doctor if you have severe eczema or psoriasis. Mild cases can be spray tanned!

Are you protected from the sun?

No. Spray tan solution do NOT have any kind of sunbscreen in it. If you are going out, PLEASE WEAR SUNSCREEN!

What should you do after your spray tan?

Wear loose-fitting, dark clothing, for at least 8 hours. I recommend sleeping in your tan. (DO NOT SLEEP IN A RAPID TAN). Do not shower, work out, or do any activity that causes sweating for the same period of time. This allows the solution optimal time to react

How long will your spray tan last?

Most spray tans last roughly 7 to 10 days, though certain factors can extend or shorten that period.

What can you do to make sure your tan lasts as long as possible?

MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZER, MOISTURIZE! Moisturizing is key to extending the life of your tan. I keep tan extending moisturizers in stock at all times if you need one. You'll want to avoid chlorinated and salt water pools, as this can make the color fade faster. In addition, cut the amount of shaving you do down to a minimum, as this works as an exfoliant and will also make your tan fade. Once your tan has started fading naturally, you can resume most of your normal skincare regimen. Avoid scented lotions, perfumes, astringents, and cleaning solutions with acid or peroxide. Anything harsh or chemical will wear away your tan more quickly.

Should you get a mani/pedi before or after your spray tan?

Before! Getting a mani/pedi after your appointment can strip your tan causing it to streak or be uneven.

Will you turn orange or streak?

No, you wont. My system is the most advanced sunless-tanning method on the market. Sunless tanning has come a long way! Streaking will occur if you do not follow the guidelines after your tanning session. No tight fitting clothing, no jeans, crossing of legs can leave an uneven tan. Sweating or getting wet will also cause an uneven tan. Please follow all guidelines to prevent an uneven tan!
